The Importance of Your Vote

Yesterday I was told I wasn’t allowed to ask why my community wasn’t able to speak about voting on a Facebook page. Then I was rudely messaged by a woman who sent the ‘rules’ from her group. She would rather talk about tacos and nachos, because we are “bombarded with politics every day ”

What a first World problem, where your privilege and ignorance shows through.

Have the uncomfortable discussions, talk to your neighbors, understand each other. If we as adults continue to ignore big issues, our children suffer from our lack of action. As a yoga teacher to adults and children and as an activist and community member, I ask that we treat our neighbors with kindness and respect with everyone’s right to speak freely.

Everyone may not agree with what you say, but you still have the right to say it, without being censored by anyone who would rather ignore reality.

The Sunrise looks so much brighter today. The world is changing for the better. We’ve made huge strides. Love and Life won in many ways. I feel more positive then I have in the last 2 years.
The discussion of politics needs to be had. We need to understand each other’s point of view. Sweeping any political conversation under the rug is sweeping our democracy under the rug.
Don’t talk about non issues and fluff, talk about the real stuff, the truth, have the uncomfortable conversation, learn.
Stare truth in the face and learn from it.
