Did you know that January was named for the Roman God Janus? – protector of doorways, gates and passages or portals. He signifies endings and beginnings, time and duality. he is depicted with two faces, one looking to the past and one looking to the future.

Monday January 20, 2020 – Martin Luther King Day. Born 90 years ago as Michael King Jr, on January 15, 1929.

January 3 – Festival of Sleep (this should be everyday)

January 4 – National Spaghetti Day (who doesn’t love spaghetti?)

January 5 – National Bird Day (a birds-eye view is the best)

January 6 – Feast of the Epiphany and La Befana (very auspicious day)

January 7 – Old Rock Day (aren’t they all old?)

January 8 – Bubble Bath Day (this is a good one)

January 9 – Play God Day (who, me?)

January 10 – Bittersweet Chocolate Day (my favorite)

January 11 – Learn your name in Morse Code Day (this could be useful)

January 12 – Feast of the Fabulous Wild Men Day (WTF)

January 13 – Make Your Dreams Come True Day (yes, mark your calendar)

January 14 – Dress Up Your Pet Day (adorable)

January 15 – National Bagel Day/National Hat Day (i will wear a hat while ordering my bagels)

January 16 – National Nothing Day (I like nothing)

January 17 – Ditch the New Year’s Resolution Day (sure, if it’s not working)

January 18 – Thesaurus Day and Winnie the Pooh Day [birth date of A.A. Milne] (you should use a thesaurus by the way)

January 19 – National Popcorn Day (i love popcorn)

January 20 – National Cheese Lovers Day (Cheesy-Goodness)

January 21 – National Hugging Day (awww, but strangers stay away!)

January 22 – National Blonde Brownie Day (you mean chocolate chip cookie squares?)

January 23 – National Handwriting Day (my penmanship sucks)

January 24 – Compliment Day (this is nice)

January 25 – Opposite Day (opposite of what?)

January 26 – Spouse’s Day (ummmmm….ok)

January 27 – Bubble-wrap Appreciation (last Monday of the Month)/Chocolate Cake Day (sounds freaky)

January 28 – Fun at Work Day/ National Kazoo Day (oh – I see where this is going)

January 29 – National Puzzle Day (there’s really a day for this?)

January 30 – National Inane Answering Machine Day (this seems outdated)

January 31 – Backward Day (but we’ve already got Opposite Day!)
