Wellness Week Rituals

Whether you’re into routine Self-Care or you’re just getting started, Wellness Week is a fantastic reminder of the importance of taking care of yourself. Annual checkups, bloodwork, mole scans, and of course, for us ladies, especially over 40, mammograms, ultrasounds, pap smears, and the dreaded colonoscopy for both sexes, are essential and should be on your calendar.

What about the in-between? The little daily rituals, weekly rituals, or monthly rituals? Hopefully, everyone brushes their teeth morning and night, flosses, and takes care of their gums, bathes daily, and engages in proper hygiene. Taking care of those aspects of yourself is necessary. It’s the subtle things that we feel may be selfish that we actually should be doing more.

Some of my favorite things include manicures and pedicures, Yoga and Pilates, Cryotherapy, walking, and sleeping, if I can. These things keep me feeling physically fit and fresh.

The Benefits of a Manicure and Pedicure:

  • an increase in blood circulation from the massage.
  • Decrease your chances of fungal infections with the cleaning under the nails.
  • Keep your skin on your hands and feet clean and free of calluses that can hold bacteria.
  • De-stress with the downtime in the nail salon.

Benefits of Yoga:

  • calm mind
  • strength and flexibility
  • personal growth
  • a community of yoga friends

Benefits of Pilates:

  • stronger core
  • better balance
  • healthy spine

Benefits of Cryotherapy:

  • relieves pain and inflammation with chronic illness
  • weight loss
  • improves skin conditions, i.e.excema
  • better sleep

Benefits of Walking:

  • heart-healthy cardio
  • lowers BMI
  • lowers blood pressure and cholesterol
  • increases energy while reducing fatigue
  • increases memory and cognitive function

Benefits of Sleep:

  • keeps your heart healthy
  • burns resting calories
  • improves memory
  • helps the body repair

My favorite thing is the products. I love great skin, haircare ad makeup products. Here are my favorites, many that I buy on repeat.

I want to begin with Joy Organics, this is relatively new in my routine, but I believe in the healing benefits of CBD for all sorts of ailments, including my insomnia. CBD Softgels with Melatonin help naturally relax your mind and body to catch up on some necessary sleep.

Fruit of the Earth Vitamin E Cream is the best bang for your buck! Literally, under $4.00, this cream is excellent for the face and body and travels well.

Palmer’s Coconut Body Oil for any season, this oil hydrates and keeps the moisture in. This product does not; I repeat it does not travel well. For everyday in-home use, this is great, even for kids.

OGX Dry Shampoo is a product I cannot live without at all. I also like Not Your Mother’s Dry Shampoo and Batiste Dry shampoo, but OGX is easy to find in travel size, so it’s become my staple. How many days have you gone without washing your hair?

Treat Marshmallow Anywhere Balm for lips, around the eyes, cuticles, and elbows. There’s a Mint & Machta Treatment now too, which i must try. This product is so great for travel because it can replace several items in your bag.

Glossier Milk Jelly Cleanser, Boy Brow in Brown, Balm dotcom in any scent, and Generation G in Leo. I also love Haloscope and can’t wait to try Future Dew. I’ve fallen in love with Glossier; they take natural beauty to the next level.

Queen V The Spritzer deodorant spray for your Yoni. Balance out your pH after a workout or any time of day. A little under the arms goes a long way too. Smells like roses!

Garnier Face Mist Green Tea is my favorite for balancing the skin. I keep a travel bottle of the Rose Mist in my bag for emergencies.

Sun Bum SPF – smells like bananas, and I think more things should smell like bananas. SPF is essential for the overall health of your skin, the body’s largest organ. I love the sprays for the entire body, but this SPF stick is fantastic for the face. This goes on smooth, and there’s no dripping into the eye, so no tears to protect that gorgeous face.
